It was nice to get back out to Kruger's for a race. Last November it was a muddy mess where cyclocross bikes weighed more than they had all year with a thick mixture of mud and hay. This Sunday was a dry day in which everyone is probably still coughing up the powder-like dirt. Crazy how you could not see the course at time and had to either follow a rider in front of you, or just take your own route and hope for the best! I finished 37th out of 64 Cat C 35+ racers. My first geared cyclocross race ever (last year was all singlespeed) on my new commuter/cross bike (new to me, but used - bought from a teammate). Felt like a madman tearing it up the first laps, but midway thru lap 4 I lost much of my mojo. Probably due partially to the sprints the previous day and a long night out with the team Saturday night. Oh well, it was another fun day at Kruger's that gave me stories to tell.
